Good training is essential for safety and enjoyment. We have several trained coaches in the club who will teach you how to respect and handle firearms safely, and will then go on to train you in their proper use so that you can build your skill, confidence and ultimately enjoyment.

All MOD ranges now require certification in firearm safety and this can be performed by club officials for whatever discipline of shooting you wish or require to take part in.

As always the basic tenet of firearm safety is muzzle awareness; at all times be aware where it is pointed. Is it pointed in a safe direction?

Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

Always keep the firearm unloaded until ready to shoot.

Is the firearm still loaded? A firearm must always be unloaded at the end of fire. This must be checked and re-checked at all times and shown when the firearm is passed from person to person. Always present with the bolt open to show a clear chamber.

Know the status of any firearm in your presence at all times.
